ENSA has announced an all-new recreational sports club to give students an additional way to get active on campus. The aim of the programme is to reach students that are not involved in sports clubs by providing a free session featuring a variety of indoor sports to increase accessibility.
Sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoons at Engage sports hall on Sighthill campus, beginning after the Christmas break. Emphasis will be on having fun, trying new sports and making new friends at the university.
ENSA Head of Student Activities Craig Stephen gave more insight into the venture:
“We are aware that ENSA only currently offers Club Sport and that there is a gap in the market for people who want low commitment, low-cost opportunities to get involved in sports.
“We’re keen to get students involved who aren’t typically involved in sports, particularly international students, commuter students and post-grad students. Anybody who can’t always commit to club training and fixtures.
“We’re looking to begin in Welcome Back Week on the 19th January. We have a few sports lined up already, like basketball, badminton and pickleball.”
Signups are set to open prior to the Christmas break via the ENSA website.
