Wednesday night in Edinburgh was a tour opener to remember for Scottish stand-up star Christopher MacArthur Boyd.
Performing the same sell-out show he ran in August last year at the Fringe, “Howling at the Moon”, CMB reeled off some of his best material yet, as well as three new segments to the show, all of which were well received by his eager Monkey Barrel crowd.
The evening was opened by Rosco McClelland, another west coast comic and good friend of Christopher. A terrific opener for the main event, ticking all the right boxes and warming up the crowd in a way I feel not many others would – who, despite Boyd’s pleas, reeled off a significant amount of Epstein and Iran material, which had the crowd near tears.
The main acts entrance was met with thunderous applause and at no point during his 70 minute long show did he prove undeserving of it. The crowd was in constant laughter throughout, in response to jokes spanning topics such as relationships, sexuality, family and growing up in Glasgow.
Boyd is no stranger to mocking himself, making his own personal experiences, physical appearance and quirks the butt of the joke – something he does exceptionally well. Be that either outing himself as a huge nerd and spending time working the crowd about video games, or proudly telling his audience about his talent for turning women gay, describing himself as “training wheels for lesbians”.
The thirty three date UK & Ireland tour is running all the way until November, if you can make it down to any of his shows I’d highly recommend it.
I’m not certain ENRG give out star ratings for comedy but if anyone is deserving of top marks, it’s this guy. ★★★★★

Great!! Well done Adam!
