Napier Knockout! First-year student relaunches Napiers Boxing Society

After over a year and a half of inactivity, the Edinburgh Napier Boxing Society has been relaunched. First year student Kenzie Foster made it his mission to get Napier students back in the ring.

“I decided to bring back the boxing society because I know people like myself who love boxing not just as a sport, but as fitness, socialisation and discipline.”

“I created this society as a fresher, using my own experience alongside the fantastic help of Austen Brunton from ENSA. I’m loving seeing the society, and the people in it, grow as we go along”

Kenzie only began studying at Edinburgh Napier in September, wasting no time in providing likeminded students with an outlet to pursue their passion, or perhaps try something new.

The clubs first training session, since its rebirth, took place last night. Having surpassed over 80 members already, the club is a great example of the necessity and desirability of sports societies here at Napier.

“It was great to see the turnout, everyone enjoyed it and the coach made it a very good lesson” said Matthew one of last nights training attendees.

The club has enlisted the expertise of Edinburgh based boxing coach Ruzimurod Rabbimov who runs the intense, yet enjoyable sessions every Monday evening.

Napier’s Boxing Club highly encourages newcomers, whether you’ve competed in the past or want something to push you out of your comfort zone. “Our society is open and welcoming to anyone of any skill or background. We support each other and help each other to get better on every level.”

President Kenzie, has now turned his focus to planning socials, fundraisers and events, driven to make Napier Boxing Club one of the Universities most appealing societies (all whilst studying for his degree in psychology).

A previously barren club is thriving once more, all thanks to the initiative and will power of first-year President Kenzie Foster.
