Odds Slash On Two For New Celtic Manager

Bookmakers odds have fallen on both Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen and Columbus Crew boss Wilfried Nancy to replace Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.

Martin O’Neill is in temporary charge at Parkhead, and has won three of his four games so far, including an extra-time win in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final over rivals Rangers.

Nancy worked with current Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston at CF Montreal in the MLS, but the Frenchman was coy when asked about speculation linking him with a possible reunion with the Canadian.

“I have nothing to say regarding that”, Nancy said after Columbus’ recent win over Cincinatti.

“We have a game to play, I have nothing to say regarding this situation.

“It happens a lot, with a lot of humidity, so I cannot comment on any rumours.”

His Columbus side’s season is now over, after they lost their playoff decider against the aforementioned Cincinatti, meaning the door for a move to Europe has opened wider for their manager.

Nancy prefers a 3-4-3 setup, and was awarded MLS Coach of the Year in 2024, one year after delivering MLS Cup success at Columbus Crew.

Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen has been linked with a move away from the Arctic Circle in the past, reportedly rejecting advances from Ajax of The Netherlands to stay put in Norway.

His contract expires at the end of this calendar year, yet rumours are swirling that he would be willing to join Celtic at the end of Bodo’s maiden Champions League campaign, which could spill into as late as February if they achieve a top 24 finish.

The Norwegian famously knocked Celtic out of the 21/22 Conference League, and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season.

“Nothing is certain in life” Knusten told Norwegian media.

“It is hopeless to answer about other clubs.

“I answer as I always do – it [next job] should be something that is more exciting than Glimt.”

Talks will continue with Knutsen and Bodo to keep the 57 year-old there beyond his current deal, as Celtic aim to tie down their next manager before the January transfer window opens.
