Sam Chisholm and Anna Flynn won the senior Scottish cyclocross titles on a muddy Linlithgow course on Sunday.
Almost 300 cyclists competed for champions’ stripey jerseys across open, junior, and masters classes at the Scottish Cyclocross Championships yesterday.
Sam Chisholm (Team HUP) won the open men’s competition, upgrading last year’s silver medal to gold.
Following his race he said: “I didn’t want to leave anything to chance, so I just pushed all the way from the start to the end. By the end of the race you were running every corner, bikes were clogging up, it was half lap changes, so I was just trying to take no risks and hold the gap.”
He led throughout the race and crossed the line almost 2 minutes before any other. He finished 1:54 ahead of silver medallist Reuben Oakley and 3:00 ahead of bronze medallist Alexander Ball (Beeston CC).
Chisholm has had outstanding success in 2025 as his cyclocross gold medal follows Scottish titles in both MTB XC and Road.
In the open women’s class Anna Flynn (Spectra Racing) successfully defended her 2024 title, taking the win by a 35 second margin. Daisy Taylor (Royal Albert CC) crossed the line in second position and Monica Anderson (Livingston CC) took third position.
Flynn said: “I’m really pleased, as it was a really tight race with Daisy – she was really pushing me with her skills, which were really good, but I think I just managed to hold her off in the end in the sprint. I’m really happy to defend my title again.”
The juniors and masters raced as a combined field.
In the women’s classes Emma Campbell (Deeside) took the junior title and Lettie McDonald, Sian Tovey, and Helen Winton (Vanelli-Project GO) won the 40s, 50s, and 60s classes respectively.
In the men’s classes Xander Graham (Scott Pioneer DJ) was the dominant junior adding the national cyclocross title to his 3 existing 2025 Scottish titles. Richard McDonald (Vanelli Project-GO), Dougie Cameron (i-cycles), and Neill Raitt (Dundee Thistle) won the 40s, 50s, and 60s classes respectively.
The rainy weather contributed to a tough muddy course that was enjoyed by athletes of all ages.
Beth Clayton (Stirling CC), silver medallist in the women’s 60 class, said: “A huge number of people showed up to cheer us on which is amazing considering the rain. The support makes you bring the best out of yourself. It’s like one big amazing family.”

The course was the penultimate race of the HUPcc Scottish Cyclocross Series, with the final event being hosted in Chatelherault, Hamilton next weekend.
