GLASGOW 17 – 15 SCARLETTS
It was a scrappy first forty minutes with Scarlets showing their ability to control games through the boot of Gareth Davies. It was a very unfamiliar Glasgow performance for the majority of the half with sloppy attacking play and undisciplined defensive decisions. The Warriors did manage to find a bit of rhythm and flow in the last fifteen minutes which resulted in their first try.
The home side eventually got into their stride during the second half. The speed and accuracy of their attack built up nicely to put pressure on a strong defence. However, there was an array of unforced errors as Scarletts caused themselves serious problems.
The visitors kickstarted their scoring early on with a penalty seven minutes in – converted by Ioan Lloyd.
Following a late tackle by Oguntibeju, Scarletts kicked to the corner sending their maul and Josh Macleod rumbling over – Lloyd failed to convert 0 – 8 11”
Weir was subbed on after Hastings went off with a head injury – 31”
Alec Hepburn received a yellow card for a high tackle putting Scarletts down to fourteen men – 33”
After some strong defence from Scarlets on their line, Glasgow were able to get themselves on the scoreboard just before halftime through a strong Johnny Matthews carry – 7-8 35”
HT – GLASGOW 7 – 8 SCARLETTS
Several quick phases from the Scarletts saw them work their way up to Glasgow’s five meter line. The backs then finished off with a nice delayed pass to put the fullback Ioan Nicholas in for the score.
The Scaletts lead was short lived as Henco venter muscled his way over the line taking it back to a one point game – 14-15 49”
Following some uneasy lineouts the homeside opted for three points – Weir converted 17-15 65”
With a chance to gain the lead with three minutes left Lloyd hooked a penalty.
