Townsend Reflects on Painful Autumn ahead of the Six Nations

Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend hopes the painful results of the Autumn will be “pretty good use to us when we are in Rome, Cardiff or Dublin”.

The Scotland Team had a mixed bag of results during the Autmn Internationals at Murrayfield, including a painful defeat to Argentina after leading 14-0 at half-time.

During the launch for the Guinness Men’s Six Nations Townsend reflected on the Autumn.

He said: “Autumn I think performance wise was good, we just didn’t get the wins we set up in our games, and that was frustrating.”

He continued explaining that “Conversations have carried on.”

Kick off in Rome is only 11 days away, with the Scotland team heading into training camp this week. Townsend explained how his team can use the pain of difficult defeats and put it too good use during the six nations.

He said: “I’m hoping the pain we had at the end of the Argentina game is going to be pretty good use to us when we are in Rome, Cardiff or Dublin.

“That’s all you can ask of your players. Learn and continue to put in the effort”

Townsend spoke highly of the team he has selected.

He said: “With the team we have, good things will happen”

Scotland’s first game of the Guinness Men’s Six Nations is against Italy in Rome on Saturday 7th of February.
